POLYMUNE™
(950mL BAG) :
Equine Plasma for the treatment of failure of
passive transfer
(FPT) in the equine neonate. Minimum IgG levels
of 1500
mg/dl. Polymune Plasma contains antibodies to
Rhodococcus equi. Independent university research
has shown that plasma containing specific antibodies
to this organism is helpful in preventing foal
pneumonia caused by R. equi.
POLYMUNE-PLUS™
(600 mL BAG) :
Equine plasma with minimum IgG levels of 2600
mg/dl. Polymune-Plus is recommended for the treatment
of failure of passive transfer (FPT) in the equine
neonate. Polymune-Plus can raise the foal IgG
levels by approximately 300 mg/dl following the
I.V. administration of one bag.
The plasma is shipped to the veterinarian frozen.
The plasma needs to be thawed over a 15 to 20
minute period before use and then administered
through a filtered blood administration kit. Once
thawed, the plasma can be refrigerated for up
to a week before use without degradation of the
IgG molecules. If the bag is not frozen but still
cool to the touch, the plasma can be refrozen
without any loss or damage to the IgG molecules. |
