| GAMMA-CHECK-B
(10 TESTS PER KIT):
This is a rapid and cost-effective screening test
for calves as a semi-quantitative means of measuring
the calf ’s IgG levels. It is based on the
ability of glutaraldehyde to cause a clot in presence
of IgG. Within 5 minutes, using either whole blood,
plasma or serum, it can be determined if a calve
has at least 800 mg/dL of IgG.
GAMMA-CHECK-C (10 TESTS PER
KIT):
This is a cost effective, semi-quantitative test
for screening the mare’s colostrum. Clot
formation in 10 minutes or less predicts at least
3800 mg/dl of IgG. Only a colostrum sample and
the kit is required.
GAMMA-CHECK-E (5 or 10 TESTS
PER KIT):
This is a cost effective, semi-quantitative test
that can be done foal side. It is based on the
ability of glutaraldehyde to cause a clot in presence
of IgG. Within 5 minutes, using either whole blood
or serum, it can be determined if a foal has at
least 800 mg/dl of IgG.
GELMATE (10 test kit)
Test for the detection of acute and chronic inflammation
in farm animals. The higher the concentration
of inflammatory proteins (mainly gammaglobulin
and fibrinogen) the quicker the formation of a
solid clot when blood is added to the reagent
in the GELMATE tubes. If a firm clot occurs within
5 minutes, then significant inflammation is present.
If a firm clot appears within 5 to10 minutes,
then moderate inflammation is present.
PREDICT-A-FOAL: (15 TEST KITS)
Cost effective method to predict the foaling date
of the mare. Add 0.6 mL of mare’s milk/secretion
to a collection vial containing a reagent solution.
The test tube is gently inverted to ensure mixing.
After one minute, the test strip which has five
boxes on it is dipped into the tube. The number
of boxes that have changed colour, will determine
the percentage chance of imminent foaling. For
example if 3 boxes have changed colour = 40 %
chance, 4 boxes = 80 % chance, 5 boxes = 90 %
chance of imminent foaling. Testing should begin
about 10 days before the expected foaling date.
EquiPlas (formally known as
Polymune): is equine plasma licensed for the treatment
of failure of passive transfer (FPT) in the equine
neonate. The minimum IgG level is 1500mg/dl and
one 950mL bag will increase a healthy foal’s
circulating IgG level by about 250 mg/dl. A Blood
Administration kit is highly recommended. |
