Dr. R C (Chas) Povey BVSc, PhD, FRCVS - Chairman of the Board
Chas graduated from Bristol Veterinary School in 1966 and returned in 1967 to pursue a PhD on the topic of FVR, which resulted in the first indication that vaccination to prevent the disease was feasible. In 1974, after spending a year in the USA (Norden Labs – now part of Pfizer) developing FCV and investigating an FLV vaccine, Chas took a position as Associate Professor at the University of Guelph. During this time Chas co-coordinated research with industry partners leading to successful FVR and calicivirus vaccine combinations, as well as the first vaccine for parvovirus in dogs. In 1985 Chas left the University of Guelph to become President and CEO of Langford Laboratories, a veterinary vaccine and pharmaceutical company. Chas is a co-founder of CentaurVA and has served on many industry Boards and not-for-profit organizations. Chas has been accredited with numerous awards throughout his career and has published 75 scientific papers and contributed to or edited 11 textbooks.
Greg Hawkins D.V.M. – President
Greg joined CentaurVA as President in September 2006. Previous clinical practice included large animal work in Elmira, Ontario, 6 years with emergency clinics in Toronto and locums throughout Ontario. Industry work included the animal health industry and most recently 8 years in commercial development of early stage human focused biotechnology companies. Dr. Hawkins graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College, Guelph, Ontario.
Tammy Caskenette R.V.T. – Product Specialist
Tammy has worked in the veterinary field for over 15 years and has a special interest in behaviour as well as Traditional Chinese Medicine. She began her career in a country practice and then moved on to a bustling, progressive city practice where she became the lead nurse and got to expand her love for behaviour as their general behaviour advisor. She believes that it is possible to create a balance between Western and Eastern medicine for optimum treatment and health. Tammy is an animal lover and shares her home with her 2 dogs, cat and fish as well as with her new husband, Kevin. A true outdoor lover at heart she hits the cottage in the summer and the snowmobile trails in the winter.
Stephanie McCreight – Office Manager
Stephanie has been in the Animal Health field for 18 years and loves helping to find the right product solutions for our clients. She is incredibly organized and is able to keep a cool head with whatever challenge she is faced with. She is mother to 3 girls and is happily married to her husband, Scott. They share their home with 3 rescued Cairn Terriers who Stephanie loves dearly Stephanie and her girls love to bake and spend quality family time together.
Scott Snyder – Warehouse Manager/Purchaser
Scott manages the hub of the CentaurVA company, the incredibly busy warehouse. Day in and day out Scott is able to ship and receive orders as well as field calls on specific products from customers and suppliers. Scott resides in Waterloo with his wife Laura and his son Ryan, they also share their home with their dogs Emerson and Elliot. The family loves to vacation in the south and have recently discovered the wonderful world of cruise ships and are busily planning their next adventure.
Erin Braybrook – Marketing Communications
Erin is a long time animal lover, with four dogs at home and two horses in the stable she is busy as can be. Marketing is a family passion and Erin follows closely in her father’s footsteps having learned the tools of the trade at a young age. Hailing from the horse racing world Erin is thrilled to be able to move into the animal health field, she continues to encounter a new adventure every day. Erin and her fiancé Jason love to take their pack of wild dogs up to the family cottage in the summer and laze away the days on the dock.
Brenda Wollis – Reception
Brenda is our front line team, welcoming each and every customer with a smile and kind word. Brenda has been in the Animal Health industry for a number of years and is no stranger to our product lines, she is always quick to help find the right solutions for our customers. Brenda resides in Guelph and loves to spend time visiting with family and friends whenever she gets the chance.
Kerry Abbott – Sales Representative for Southern Ontario
Kerry has loved animals of all kinds for as long as she can remember. At 19 her beloved dog Sadie, a German shorthaired pointer, came into her life. Kerry, husband Keith, two sons, and Sadie are happiest when camping, hiking and spending time at the family retreat on Buckhorn Lake.
Sarah Lane – Event Coordinator
Sarah lives in Aberfoyle with husband Doug, two young children Steffi and Ben, a British short haired cat named Luey and an Australian Shepherd named Gunner. Sarah has been involved in the pet industry since 1988 as a breeder, handler, groomer, shop owner and a kennel operator. Currently she is involved in show industry sales and marketing with CentaurVA.
Hillar Sorra BSc, BEd – Sales Representative for Toronto and the G.T.A.
Hillar was a Physical Health Education teacher in Toronto for 6 years and always a competitive athlete in volleyball and Track and Field. Hillar had his own Personal Training and Fitness Business for 8 years and has now turned his interests towards the ever growing nutraceutical market, specializing in the joint health product industry. Hillar has been with CentaurVA since 2006.
Marlene Matthews – Accounting
Marlene is our numbers lady, keeping track of what comes in and what’s going on, all with an efficiency that is second to none! She has 30+ years in the accounting field and is an integral part of CentaurVA Marlene is a farm girl at heart, living on a working farm with her husband and daughter.
